Raw Materials and Recycling
Fibre, a raw material
The main raw material for paper production is fibre, which can be acquired from two main sources: trees (and other plants) or waste paper. The latter is more important in production of packaging papers. Production, collection and processing of waste paper create a cycle, as shown in the diagram. In such a system, the quantity of the primary raw materials used for packaging paper production is significantly reduced (one fifth to one tenth of the original quantity).
Recycling
Mostly secondary raw materials
Hamburger Hungaria manufactures its products entirely from secondary raw materials, i. e. from recovered papers. This means, that apart from saving natural resources, we serve society well by recycling the large volumes of waste being generated. Almost 90% of Hungary’s waste recycling obligation determined by an EU Directive is fulfilled by the two paper machines running at the Dunaujvaros site.
